UCIM Lab develops advanced manufacturing technologies with emphasis on additive manufacturing (3D printing), manufacturing system analysis and agent-based simulation.

We aim to research and develop 1) the advanced design and process engineering technology of 3D printing for industrial applications, 2) analytic model of complexity and flexibility in manufacturing systems, and 3) agent-based advanced simulation with human-inclusion in complex system dynamics (e.g., manufacturing operation, social safety systems, etc.).

울산과학기술원 컴퓨터 통합 생산기술 연구실(UCIM Lab)에서는 4차 산업혁명의 핵심 기술인 3D 프린팅과 생산시스템 시뮬레이션 두가지를 기반으로 인공지능(AI)과 접목시킨 첨단 생산기술 개발을 수행하고 있습니다.

3D 프린팅 기술은 작은 물건부터 자동차 혹은 의료기기까지 제조산업에 새로운 패러다임을 불러일으켰고, 생산시스템 시뮬레이션은 미래의 디지털/스마트 공장 구현을 위한 분석 및 예측을 가능하게 합니다. 두 기술의 효율성 증대와 단점 개선을 위해 AI 알고리즘을 접목시킨 연구는 빠르게 변화하는 제조업의 경쟁력을 높이는데 크게 이바지할 것으로 기대되며, 이를 UCIM Lab에서 주도하고 있습니다.
